Food Choices – Part 2

Egg layers are usually crammed into cages, 16 by 18 inches wide, confining 5 or 6 birds on average. This translates into about a 9 inch by 9 inch space per bird, smaller than a standard sheet of paper. These husbandry practices cause the birds to be diseased. Add this to a diet full of meat scraps with high protein supplements to increase egg production, and you have a chicken very prone to disease. Are the eggs safe to eat?
